In this article I will give you a few of the current existing WO2 bunkers and their surrounding, displayed through the view of Google Earth. I have used pictures of "Pindakaas" for the real pictures, just to show you how the bunkers look in real life.
Ijmuiden is a small town near the coast of the North Sea, 30 km's away from Amsterdam. There are endless amounts of bunkers in Ijmuiden and some of them are still a few meters below sand. Most bunkers have been cleaned and filled with sand in the 60's, this to prevent damage. Put the main reason was that the most bunkers were in a horrible state due to landslides and concrete rot.
There are still several groups of explorers trying to find the undiscovered bunkers and dig them out. Results are nice pieces of common used products.
Important to remember, the 5000+ bunkers build on the shore of North-Holland were never occupied. All bunkers are build by Dutch builders under the German command.
